Stitches West

You might have heard about the Stitches seminars sponsored by Knitter's magazine. On the last week of February, Stitches West was held in Oakland, California. The conference seemed to be the most successful they ever had. Almost all classes were full and the market was bigger than ever.

There were so many beautiful yarns available; it was overwhelming. There were wonderful very soft plush yarns that make you want to pet them; and the eyelash yarns with the long strands that make them look like fur or feathers. In this category Lion Brand had Fun Fur, which comes in 20 different wonderful shades.

Another very impressive product was from a Japanese company (Hatu textiles). They had different kinds of very fine yarn. Some of them were real silk and some were made out of paper products and even stainless steel (They called it stainless steel silk). On display, was a jacket made out of the steel yarn! It had a very interesting texture; it was not stiff as you might expect, but smooth like a very fine yarn! Their booth was one of the busiest, and very inspiring.

If you have not attended these seminars, hope you can attend one soon. It sure is very motivating to see what other knitters and crocheters are doing and have a look at new products.
