Needlecraft University's Anniversary

Happy 2007 everyone! I wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year. Did you know that Needlecraft University is now four years old. NU opened its door in January 2003. We are now offering forty six classes and have added new features to the site including the archive of our monthly eNewsletters. The most important fact is that we could not have done it without your patronage and support. So from all of us at NU Thank You for your support by visiting the web site, taking our classes, and sending us your encouraging comments.

Charity Work

In the last two months I have written about "Caps to the Capital" campaign and "Operation Gratitude". I am delighted to report that on December 27, I mailed 145 caps to Save the Children Foundation. These caps were knit and crocheted by friends in this area and members of Marin Knitter's Guild. You can see updated photos at: www.craftland.com/donation/update.htm.

I also received the following email messages from some of you that took part in these wonderful causes.

The first message came from Claire in San Rafael, California. She wrote: "I mailed off 17 scarves to Operation Gratitude in Mid November. Many of the ladies in my Knit 'n Chat class at Nazareth House (Retirement Center) knitted them. They are mostly in their mid to late 80s and one is 95 years young! All of their husbands were in the military during WWII and they knitted socks that time around! I was so very proud to send those off!"

Mary from Silt, Colorado wrote: "I sent three caps off and one scarf after reading your email. Didn't take a picture but wanted you to know that you were responsible for my getting a few things done."

Candy from Santa Maria, California said: "I recently spent a lot of time with my nephew who is going through dialysis so I took my yarn with me. Today I sent 12 caps to Save the Children. I am attaching a picture. Please let me know if they will accept more caps after January."

I have added Candy's photo to the update page. And I hope Candy's nephew feels better soon.
