Metric Conversion

Every region in the world has its own Measurement System, which to some degree, might still be in use locally. However, one system that has superior scientific value has become the standard almost worldwide, and that is the International System of Units or the Metric system, also known as CGS (Centimeter-Gram-Second). Despite worldwide adoption of this system as the standard measurement system, in some countries, one local system is still widely in use. That is the English system, also known as FPS (Foot-Pound-Second). This system, which has two slightly different flavors (US & UK), is still in use in countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and few other former colonies of the United Kingdom. However, in recent years most of these countries except the US (along with Burma (Myanmar) and Liberia) has added the more advanced Metric Measurement to their systems, whereas in the US the Metric system has only been adopted by the military and the scientific community.

You can use the following calculators to convert between Metric, US, and Imperial (UK) measuring systems. Here is how to use:
  1. Type in the number that you want to convert in the first field from the left.
  2. Select the measuring unit of the above number from the selection list on the second field.
  3. On the right hand selection list, select the measuring unit that you want to convert to.
  4. The equivalent number on the target measuring system automatically shows up in the third field.
